Presentation Abstract

SharePoint workflows are a great tool for automating processes. This session will give you a closer look at what workflows are available out of the box in both WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007. We will also look under the hood and see how the workflow engine works with SharePoint. This session will have a different approach as it will be role driven. There are 3 roles I want to explore: The Business Analyst, the Technical Business Analyst, and the Developer. This session will start from an introduction to out of the box functionality to a more detailed look at workflow development, and cover a bit of everything in between. Specifically we will look at workflows and what they can do and how each role would approach using workflows. This session will have a bit of something for everyone, weather you are new to SharePoint and just starting to roll it out in your business environment, or if you are a seasoned developer and looking to dive into heavy duty development in SharePoint.

Some of the content that will be covered: Out of the Box workflows – Approval Workflow, Collect Feedback, 3 State Workflow SharePoint Designer Workflows – designing and deploying workflows with SPD. SP Workflows using Visual Studio 2008 – building and deploying sequential and state machine workflows.
